Weekly Mechanics #8 Rule: Use a comma to separate the elements in a series (three or more things), including the last two.
1)I got the balll, squared up to shoot, and made the shot.
2)I hit the ball, ran to first base, then got out at second.
3)The QB passed the ball, i caught the ball, then got a touchdown
Rule: Use a comma + a little conjunction (and, but, for, nor, yet, or, so) to connect two independent clauses
1) I made my shot, but i didnt get back on defence.
2)I made a long shot, but i stepped on te 3 point line, so it didnt cout as 3 points.
3)I stole the ball and had a fastbreak, but i missed my layup.
Rule: Use a comma to set off introductory elements.
1)Using a kife, he cut the steak.
2)Having a shooting percentage of 86%, he had 34 points in his game.
3)Hiting the 3 point shot at the buzzer, we won by 1 point.
